Boise Area Seniors: How Comfortable Are You with Balance and Preventing a Fall—SELF TEST

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) one in three seniors (over the age of 65) will have a fall each year. The consequences of a fall can vary, but the risk for further falls only increases. We know that 95% of seniors want to live in their own home for as long as possible, so doing what we can to prevent falls and improve balance plays a huge roll in our ability to stay active, independent, and on our feet.

The CDC has posted the following questions to create awareness to one’s own level of balance and potential for a fall:

  1. Have you fallen in the past year?
  2. Do you feel unsteady when standing or walking?
  3. Do you worry about falling?

If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, you may have an increased risk for a fall. Considering the cost of a fall—not only financially, but for confidence and continued independence, it may be valuable to have a Fall Prevention Program in place.

Our Fall Prevention Program is designed to work one-on-one with the individual, a physical therapist will visit with you in your own home or place of residence and develop a plan to help you improve balance and increase mobility to help keep you safe.
